This is Year 3 of Picture365. Year 1 of Picture365 project archive is here and Year 2 is here.

Welcome to my second year of Picture365 (which is actually 366 this year). I had so much fun the first year, I decided to extend it another year. The original date started mid-January 2007, but to make it easier to organize, I reset it back a couple of weeks for Take 2 to Jan 1. This could become an annual tradition!

The goals for Picture365* in 2008 are the same as 2007- to improve my photo taking capability by:
1. Paying closer attention to composition
2. Noticing things about my enviroment that are worthy of a photo.
3. Experimenting with new techniques and ideas- some may fail, some succeed- to add tools to my repertoire.

I want to visualize things different.  I joined Flickr in 2006, and was amazed at the creativity in other people's photographs.  And, yes, I do take good photographs, but I do this through sheer volume of photos- getting lucky often enough.  I want to be able to take any scene and create something magical from it.

I have a few rules to play by:
1. The photo shall be taken between 0-24 in whatever time zone I am in at the time, with any imaging device. I may not be able to post them right away, but I will when I am home.
2. The photo shall have minimal manipulation, but some is allowed. Examples:
a. Brightness/Contrast
b. Sharpening (compensates for soft focus of some digital cameras)
c. Noise reduction (especially on cell phones)
d. White Balance adjust
e. Darkroom technique simulations- HDR (dodge/burn), multiple exposure, depth stacking (recreate depth of field digital camera cannot do)
3. The image shall be of something notable, not just a photo of my hand to "satisfy" the requirement, asI have seen in some 365 projects.
