feb10.jpg - This rose was part of a bouquet I bought my wife, who's still recovering from surgery. This is the first time I have used focus stacking- taking multiple shots with different focus points and using post processing to combine the in-focus parts of each picture. Macro is difficult because the plane of focus is so thin. To overcome that (and simulate the stop-down capability of a film camera), manually focusing at different depths (careful not to move anything) and then using CombineZ5 to join the focused areas together yielded this. Again, this is no special effect, just compensation for the limitations of a digital camera (at least non-SLR one).

Things I would do differently: Nothing!
