February .. Jalbum 8.6 feb28 slides/feb28.html# Sat, 29 May 2010 00:27:02 -0500 Today we did a little bit of driving around the Trinity Greenbelt Park, which at least in Irving near Texas Stadium, is almost inaccessible (why do they have a Greenbelt Park with signs posted everywhere No Tresspassing?). So then we drove to Bachman Lake, by Love Field. This ugly duckling (?) greeted me- walked right up to me, then turned sideways and posed, then walked off when he realized I wasn't going to feed him. I love the detail in this, and the soft, blurry background. I love this camera! Things I would do differently: Nothing. Mods: None. I took the older camera jogging with me tonight in order to get a little more experience with the GPS logger. This photo is geotagged, not that you can do anything with it in this particular album. But it's important for me going forward that my pictures, especially travel ones, be market with the location they were taken. Things I wouild do differently: Nothing. Mods: None. This sunset shot was intended to give some sense of scale, while hiding specifics about the building. It's not that tall, but quite large overall, and very fluid in design. I took 224 photos yesterday, and I tried to be innovative and try new perspectives. However, the fox photo seemed to trump those other shots. I wanted to post a couple of more, so for a couple of days, I'll post results from Saturday's wide variety of pictures before resuming my daily photo. Hey, this is my 3rd year of Picture365, so I can cut myself just a tiny bit of slack :) I was on my stomach on the ground here- I wanted to show the old cemetery in the context of modern Dallas. Things I would do differently: Nothing. Mods: A bit of dodging on the tombstone on the left to recover some detail. I went to Greenwood Cemetery, in downtown Dallas. I was shocked to see this grey fox there. As many good photos as I took, I had to make this my picture of the day. I took a lot of great shots today, so it was hard to pick, but wildlife I rarely see trumps architectural or historical shots. Things I would do differently: Nothing. Mods: None. Green laser- you know the drill if you've been following my project. It's not that dark of a room, but it's on a dark background and the bright laser made for a fairly short exposure. There is some additional glint in the marbles from an overhead light. I like the fishnet texture overlaid on the marbles. Things I would do differently: Nothing. Mods: None. Now that I have a new camera, and the fact that we are going on vacation in a couple of weeks, now was the time to invest in this technology. Basically, without Canon's muy expensive ($600) WiFi/GPS attachment, your only option is to buy a GPS logger. I bought the QStarz BT-Q1300 Nano, which is 2/3 the size of an iPond Nano. Once it acquires the satellites (and you have set your camera's time as accurately as possible), you just start the device logging and go take your pictures. When you get home, you upload the GPS data from the device, and upload your pictures from your camera. Software provided with the BT-Q1300 will then sift through the data and the photos, comparing timestamps. Where the closely match up, the Lat/Long data are inserted into the EXIF data of the picture. These daffodils are in my neighborhood, and were illuminated by the setting sun. Things I would do differently: Nothing. Mods: None. This is my first truly geo-tagged picture. I was just positioning myslef to make sure I was getting my face fully framed as I had to sit rather close to the camera to fire the tethered remote. I wasn't intending to use this one, but the actual planned shot didn't work very wel, but I sort liked this one. No particular emotion here- 2 days unshaven stubble and perhaps just slight frustration as the ring flash I was planning to use was being uncooperative in staying on the camera (I still need to get adapter rings to make it sturdy). Reflections on the face are just available light from the windows- it was dusk at this point. Things I would do differently: ? Mods: None. This was a test shot for another setup.
